One of Poland’s most significant and rebellious entertainers will be performing a one off show in Dublin this Summer – on the 16th of May in the Button Factory. This is a show not to be missed. Maria Peszek will be performing a selection of new and old material with her incredible band. Maria Peszek released her debut album “Miastomania” in 2005 in collaboration with Wojtek Waglewski that was accompanied by a theater performance in Warsaw’s Cane Factory (Fabryka Trzciny). This album was highly influential in the Polish music scene inspiring and captivating artists and fans nationwide. Maria’s impact on the music industry continued with “Maria Awaria” released in September 2009. This album proved to be one of the biggest events on the Polish music scene in recent years. Hundreds of shows followed throughout Poland, and invitations to perform at major international music festivals including Heineken Open’er, Sopot, Jarocin and OFF Festival. By that time Maria Peszek was critically acclaimed as one of the most important figures in the Polish entertainment scene. In October 2012 Maria released “Jezus Maria Peszek” a work of art that is uncompromising, daring and extremely poignant. This intransigent and rebellious album moved it’s listeners, challenging them to the core. Maria Peszek’s unapologetic and out spoken album did not leave anyone indifferent; some felt enlightened, others felt anger, everyone felt something. “We knew that the new material had fantastic potential, but it turned out that “Jezus” is a live firecracker! It’s an amazing feeling when you’re standing on the stage it’s exhilarating when people sing louder than you. Such emotional audiences, shows that what I do makes sense. If you get such a huge response from the other side, I know it was worth it to expose my music, to be attacked and go my own way. ” In order to fully experience the full thrill of an album that caused an uproar in Poland, Maria says that it is important to be at the concert.
