HEY

HEY

Description

Hey is undoubtedly one of the most important Polish rock bands. Since 1992, their excellent compositions with profoundly moving and deeply sincere lyrics by Katarzyna Nosowska have captivated vast audiences. Hey’s first album “Fire”, released in 1993, continues to be one of the most remarkable records in the canon of Polish rock albums. In the following years, Hey released “Ho!” (1994), “Heledore” (EP, 1995), and “?” (1995), which many fans consider the best album in the band’s history. Hey’s next records, “Karma” (1997) and “Hey” (1999), were followed by changes in line-up. The co-founder and leader Piotr Banach left the band and was replaced by Paweł Krawczyk (formerly of the Polish bands Ahimsa and Houk), who fitted in perfectly with the band’s style, as the album “[sic!]” (2001) proved. Not only did the album feature great songs, but it also brought Hey back to charts, marking a renaissance of popularity for the band. A tour organised on the band’s tenth anniversary was crowned with a double live album “[koncertowy]” (2003). Also in 2003, a new studio album “music, music” was released, featuring experimental compositions filled with electronic sounds. Although many people claimed that the band had strayed too far from its roots, large audiences attracted to the tour for the album proved that the musicians’ new ideas were both fully accepted and greatly appreciated. The next studio album “Echosystem” (2005) was more melodic and full of guitar sounds. Several months after its premiere, the “Echosystem” DVD was also released, featuring a quasi-documentary film about the band’s work on the album.
