OCHO are an electronic duo from Dublin, with guest musicians Eanna Hickey, Jill Deering, Lisa Cuthbert and special guests. Their debut album YOUNG HUNTING was released in MAY 2012 and is available on iTunes and Tower Records Dublin. The band spent most of 2012 playing festivals and headline shows in Ireland, as well as major festivals including Electric Picnic, BEATYARD and Castlepalooza. OCHO will also be appearing on this season of ‘OTHER VOICES’ RTE, and continue to perform throughout 2013 at festivals and shows nationwide.OCHO’s music is intense and comfortably creepy. Lead singer Gill is not afraid of her dark side and this album was a way of exorcising and facing her inner demons. The music is both sobering and honest, the beats and music by producer DOS shine a much needed beautiful light on the bitter sweet tones of Gill’s lyrics and haunting voice. A captivating and revealing live show will take you by the head and not let you go until OCHO are finished with you. You are are in good hands with this mesmerizing performance. “What a brilliant band OCHO are… their single ‘Young Hunting’ is simply stunning.” Dan Hegarty, RTE 2fm “Gill has drawn comparisons with Bat For Lashes and Imogen Heap, but she is very much her own woman making her own music…A hugely impressive debut” **** Jackie Hayden-HOTPRESS “Tracks like ‘Young Hunting‘ draws you instantly in, from beginning to end, floating out the speakers like a ghost effecting it’s surroundings. While tracks like ‘Spin A Rope‘ and ‘Deep River’ elevate the album to heights rarely heard on a debut. Stunning from start to finish”. Mutantspace – album 9/10 (May 2012) “it’s like an academy award winning film with so many undertones of genius….. If the Cohen Brothers wrote an electronic album and spent 2 or 3 years in doing so, this would probably be what it’d sound like. Tarantino would probably be jealous too……It’s a slow burner and requires the love and attention of time and consideration, something that in this industry is becoming more and more rare and undefined” FILE UNDER GOOD MUSIC
